The Heroin drug has made it’s name by polluting the streets of the urban community, yet now it is shifting its focus to smaller towns within the new england region. Towns that are thought to be more likely to get heroin than you are a “UPS Delivery”, said one Dr. Mark Publicker an addiction specialist. There is an influx in the distribution and consumption of Heroine in the Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire regions; as well as deaths in these regions due to the drug. Posters around the area insinuating “safe” ways to abuse the drug, include messages such as: ” Please Do Not Use Alone. Do A Tester Shot” as well as ” Use The Recovery Position”. The recovery position when undergoing a convulsion during Heroin use involves, lying on one’s side in order to not choke while vomiting. Heroin deaths have tripled in Maine since 2011, and more than quadrupled in New Hampshire.

“Heroin is our biggest problem right now,” said Capt. Scott Tucker of the Rutland, Vt., police”.

The reasoning for the influx in heroin users is thought to be the high restrictions that have been placed on Doctors, where they have been limited to the amount of pain medicine in which they can prescribe. Users whom have used the pain killers to snort, have now resorted to heroin as their drug of choice, which is much cheaper. Hopefully New England gets it together soon.. Say no to drugs.
