Did Steve Nash’s first season with the Lakers go so bad that he is ready to give up basketball for his first love? Well, Kinda, at least for now. Nash has a actual tryout setup next week with Inter Milan, one of the top soccer clubs in the world. But if he makes it, he won’t be a full time player. Hit the jump for more.

Soccer is actually the preferred sport of Nash, basketball was his second love. Obviously his decision to play in the NBA has worked out, but seems he still has soccer flowing through his blood. The Lakers guard who grew up playing soccer and still has deep ties within the sport will have a tryout of sorts with Inter Milan, before the storied team opens play in the Guinness International Champions Cup tournament that’s coming to the U.S. next week. The tournament features eight club teams from around the world, with a winner to be crowned in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Aug. 7. So basically if he does make the team, he will only play with them during this tournament, which the teams involved use as a exhibition before their real season gets going. The Lakers are already a little dysfunctional, they better hope Nash doesn’t try and play soccer permanently.
