IFWT_Hoodie

“Because it’s such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama,” is what the director of a new branch of the Smithsonian said about the artifact. Don’t forget to check out the gallery! Hoodies have been doing all the talking lately!

Lonnie Bunch, director of the new branch of the Smithsonian – National Museum of African American History and Culture, mentioned that he would like to have the piece as a part of the museum’s permanent collection. “It became the symbolic way to talk about the Trayvon Martin case,” Bunch says. This branch would not open until 2015, so that gives plenty of time for this to be up for discussion. Touchy topic! I’m on the fence with it…what do you all think?
