The youngster answered the final question in regards to the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln, correctly. His fault happened when he spelled Emancipation incorrectly, “emanciptation”. Alex Trebec ruled out the contestant due to his mis-spelling. What really got Thomas mad was that he bet $3,000 of his $9600 and lost to a rival whom by the end of the show accumulated $66,000. Who wouldn’t be pissed!

The Newton native received support from hundreds of people enraged at what happened, who hit the show’s Facebook page to vent.
