Over $586,000 has been contributed to congressional and presidential candidates and parties since 2009. Who are the generous donors? It seems to be the deed of 32 people whom are listed as deceased! They have been contributing graciously to politicians since January 1,2009 reports the USA Today analysis of Federal Election filings.

One of the most recent cases, as recent as last Wednesday, involves Houston home builder and “GOP mega-donor” Bob Perry who died earlier this year. Although he died in April it is filed that he “contributed” $100,000 on June 3rd, in aiding to the campaign running for the re-election of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. How could someone be dead and contribute money in an election you may be asking? Well Officials with the super PAC, Kentuckians for Strong Leadership placed the blame on “a computer-software glitch” that entered the wrong contribution date and quickly filed a new report with the “correct” date (the day before he died).

The incident put a “spotlight” on the legality and terms behind campaign contributions from those deceased.

“Federal rules establish some restrictions on political giving from the grave, however. The donations, for instance, must comply with applicable contribution limits. Currently, an individual cannot donate more than $5,200 to a federal candidate during an election cycle and no more than $32,400 to a political party each year”.

It seems as though the zombie “contributors” have been giving out a little more than they should ? What do you guys think?
