In response to the various tragic and unfortunate events that have gained international attention, Asiana Airlines Inc. has offered each of the 288 families affected $10,000. Despite the possible payout, a nice amount of the families are skeptical about receiving the payout. Hit the jump to find out why.

According to USA Today, “A mother of one passenger said an Asiana manager contacted the family by telephone last week offering $10,000. The family declined because the offer wasn’t made in writing and they feared accepting the payment would bar lawsuits.”

In response, Asiana spokeswoman Lee Hyomin said that “the payout is not a settlement and accepting the money does not prevent passengers from suing the airline.”
