2013 Seattle Hempfest
It’s a 3-day event called Hempfest, where nearly 85,000 people a day join together in Seattle. And police are enforcing “Operation Orange Fingers??”

Usually cops arrest people or hand them tickets when they catch them smoking pot, but at the 2013 Hempfest in Seattle, cops plan to hand out over 1,000 bags of Doritos. Attached to the nacho-cheese Doritos is a reminder of some of the nuances of Washington’s legal pot law.

Hempfest is an annual event, and this year was the 22nd Hempfest; where people come together for a 3-day marijuana festival at a waterfront park in Seattle. The event is part-party, part-protest, and part-victory celebration after last fall’s legalization in Washington.

On Friday, thousands of people with joints in their hands pass by vendors selling glass pipes, tie-dyed clothing, and hemp products.

An 18-year-old Seattle University student talked about the festival while smoking a joint with his two friends and he said, “This is going to be the biggest year for Hempfest. In past years, people were a little bit sketched out about smoking in public. Now, there’s going to be a lot more.”
