NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has taken note of the early excitement.

There’s “more buzz around this Super Bowl this year than any Super Bowl in its history,” Goodell recently said.

The halftime performance will be a major stage for Mars: Such shows have drawn more than 100 million television viewers in the United States alone in recent years.

Beyoncé starred in the most recent halftime show in New Orleans, where the Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.

Like Beyoncé, Mars is one of pop music’s top acts.

Mars is also an awesome performer with an extensive catalog.  It should be a great show.
