Rookie hazing is nothing new in sports.  Making players wear weird outfits or get crazy haircuts is the norm.  Even making rookies pony up for a dinner bill happens but what is it considered too far?  Well one anonymous Dolphins player says he’s nearly broke after paying for teammates.

Things really came to a head when Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin left the team claiming he was bullied and went through verbal harassment from the offensive line.  According to sources guard Richie Incognito was the reported “ring leader” but he is maintaining his innocence, imploring ESPN to stop slandering his name and even calling out NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Of course the story has grown and the Miami Herald‘s Adam Beasley tweeted Sunday that one young defensive player has nearly gone broke because he’s been pressured to pay for older players.  Beasley adds: “When I talked about anger, dysfunction last week, this is what I was referring to. This issue extends far beyond the Martin situation.”

Adding fuel to the situation, Dolphins defensive lineman Jared Odrick sent out a tweet saying everything tastes better when rookies pay for it.

The Dolphins are reportedly investigating the issue.  Incognito however is not being investigated by the NFLPA.
