Since being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers Steve Nash has sat out a majority of games due to numerous injuries.  The sign and trade deal was for three-years and Nash says he intends to finish it out despite being unable to stay in the game.

Despite all the work his body needs just be able to play each game, point guard Steve Nash says he intends to finish out his contract before calling it a day as an NBA player. Retirement won’t happen after this season.

“I don’t think so. I’m already not the player I want to be and just [have] a different body,” Nash tells CBSSorts.com. “My body’s different. I’m still trying to adjust and adapt and get my body to accept a certain amount of the pounding and forces and be able to adjust my game and still be productive. I still feel like I’ve got a lot of life left without basketball so I’m going to try to enjoy it and make the most of these last 18-20 months, whatever it is.”

Nash’s future with the Los Angeles Lakers beyond this season is in doubt as most NBA observers think the team is going to increase their cap room in July by waiving him via the amnesty provision. This will allow the Lakers to spread out the $9.7 million 2014-15 salary over three years. There is a chance Nash could go back to Phoenix and finish out his career with the Suns in 2014-15.
