As a diehard Knicks fan myself, this report has me very excited. The Knicks are reportedly going to go after Kevin Love prior to the 2015 season. Love himself becomes a free agent from Minnesota after next year. Rumors state that the Knicks have already spoke with Carmelo about going after Love if Melo stays in New York after this season. The Knicks have no money for the next two seasons. However after that, Amar’e Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler and Andrea Bargnani all have contracts that expire at the same time, which will free up alot of money for the Knicks. According to a source, through the decay and debris of a crumbling infrastructure, chasing the championship parade that never marches, the New York Knicks’ recruitment to retain Carmelo Anthony comes with the promise to pursue Kevin Love into the franchise’s 2015 salary cap. The Knicks are buried in salary-cap hell through 2014, awaiting Amar’e Stoudemire ($23.4 million), Tyson Chandler ($14.3 million) and Andrea Bargnani ($12 million) to expire. The Knicks are sold on Love in 2015, sources tell Yahoo Sports, and they’ve already begun devising a strategy to lure him when the time comes. This is obviously still some time away, but gives Knicks fans hope that the franchise is trying to bring a championship to MSG. Let’s see how it plays out.
