There was much confusion when what was supposed to be a documentary premiere of “Dirty: Platinum Edition” on november 15th, turned into a public statement premier from ODB’s estate rep. The confusion increased when many questioned the grounds in which the rep had to be able to cancel the premiere, yet it became clearer when the estate layer, represented his widowed wife Icelene jones.

Clan member RZA expressed his confusion on the matter and stated:

“I can’t see how a lawyer can stop culture from being spread. This film is a documentary. That’s one of the biggest problems we have in this country – the problems of lawyers. I don’t understand how ODB, who passed away nine years ago, who has children, who has family members who are sitting right there in that audience, he has fans who have supported his music, he’s a part of the Wu Tang Legacy,” said RZA. “I can’t see how a lawyer, who never met him personally, can stop this film from being shown to the public.”

Chris Kanik the SuHo owner and managing director of the Suho Film Festival in which the documentary was premiered in, replied to RZA”s dissatisfaction by stating, “It’s not a lawyer, it’s the estate…the widow.”
