Pau Gasol is whining once again. Just like the image for this story, he is pointing to his coach for the reason he is struggling this year. Gasol has done this before. When things are not going great for him he blames the coach. Is the coach the reason you are only shooting 41% from the field? I don’t think so. Hit the jump to see what coach and player said about each other.

In an interview with the LA Times, Gasol was quoted the following:

The fact that I’m not getting the ball in the post affects directly my aggressiveness. When I’m not getting the ball where I want to, where I’m most effective, where I can bang guys and utilize my skill, that affects my aggressiveness and overall intensity. …

What do you think? I’m not going to say anything, but it’s easy to see. You see a guy with a certain skill set, where does it fit better, where it doesn’t.

After hearing of Gasol’s remarks, coach responded “I can’t lie to him…our numbers tell us the worst thing we do is post up”. To throw one more final jab, Gasol added “I don’t pay attention. Mike is sometimes all over the place, I don’t give much credit to things like that.”

Not really a good idea for player and coach to have words via the media. To be honest I have to side with the coach on this one. When the season started and the Lakers knew they were not going to have Kobe for a while, everyone predicted their doom. Instead they played competitive basketball, and even in the strong western conference, they held the fort down until Kobe returned last week. Pau needs to man up and focus.
