IFWT Tom Coughlin

The New York Giants had a very disappointing 0-6 start to the season.  They then won four straight and miraculously found themselves in the playoff hunt again.  Then they lost two straight and the loss to the San Diego Chargers last week officially eliminated them from the postseason.  So now the next question up is will they continue with head coach Tom Coughlin.

A rough finish to the 2013 season could lead to Coughlin calling it a wrap at age 67. Count Gaints legend Lawrence Taylor among those who think it’s time for Coughlin to move on.

“Tom Coughlin has done wonders for the Giants. Personally, I don’t know if I could play for him, but the guy is a winner, he is a fighter. But I think it is time for him to take his talents on the road,’’ Taylor told The New York Post Saturday night. “He’s done all he can do for the Giants. If he wants to coach, I think he needs to take his philosophies to another team.

“After a while, the players just stop listening. I respect the man, but it’s time. As much as I like Coughlin and the job he has done, it’s time for a shakeup.”

This is just the opinion of a former player, who doesn’t really hold any sway in whether Coughlin will stay or go, but he does speak to the primary reasons that could force Coughlin out. If he or the franchise feel the players are tuning him out or it’s simply time for a change, Coughlin and the Giants could agree to separate.
