Beastie Boys

After unsuccessfully attempting to rename a Brooklyn street after the late Notorious B.I.G., LeRoy McCarthy has launched a new petition…this time to rename a Lower East Side corner after The Beastie Boys.

LeRoy is asking Manhattan’s Community Board 3 and New York’s City Council to name the intersection of Ludlow Street and Rivington Street to “Beastie Boys Square,” because the location is where the cover of their 1989 album Paul’s Boutique was shot.

The petition was launched in September and so far has 234 supporters, and will be presented to the Community Board 3 Manhattan in January. Do you think they’re going to let it rock?
