A recent ruling shutting down anti-prostitution laws, may have given sex workers more leeway, hit the jump for more!

In a 9-0 ruling, Canada’s highest judicial court, shut down anti-prostitution laws enacted 34 years ago, while giving parliament one year to find a new legislation catering to all parties, most importantly the safety of prostitutes.

“The high court on Friday struck down all three prostitution-related laws: against keeping a brothel, living on the avails of prostitution, and street soliciting. The ruling is a victory for sex workers seeking safer working conditions because it found that the laws violated the charter guarantee to life, liberty and security of the person.”
