IFWT Garnett x Rondo x Pierce x Allen

On Friday night the Lakers played the Celtics in Boston.  Kobe Bryant who won’t return from his knee injury till February was just a spectator last night and it led him to reflect on better times when the Celtics weren’t rebuilding but the great team that took the Lakers to seven games in the 2010 NBA Finals.

Kobe reflected on the team and just like many others was sad to see Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen go.

via Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald:

“When we played against them, you saw really good basketball,” Kobe said. “You saw smart players, unselfish players who played both ends of the floor, multi-faceted players.

“So of course I’d hoped for a team like that to stick together, because that’s the maximum level of competition that you’re going to have. I mean, that 2010 series is my favorite series of all time, just because it was the most competitive one. It was the most difficult one. I mean, we’re going against four future Hall of Famers. That doesn’t happen too often.”

Four Hall of Famers would have to include Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo.  Though Rondo has shown elite skills at the point guard position he has a long way to go before he’s considered Hall of Fame worthy.  It does speak volumes however that Kobe thinks so highly of him.
