Authorities report that Verrier checked into St. Barnabas at 10 p.m. last Sunday and was found dead at 6:40 a.m on Monday. After checking in, he was told to wait in the ER but sat in the waiting room. A spokesman for St. Barnabas, Steve Clark, stated that Verrier’s name was called “two or three times” by hospital employees and was not answered. Clark also stated that Verrier was spotted alive at 2 a.m. by hospital security. This is what a hospital employee had to say about the incident:

“He was found stiff, blue and cold. He died because [there’s] not enough staff to take care of the number of patients we see each day. We need more staff at Saint Barnabas.”

It takes Bronx patients an average of 306 minutes to be treated and released by hospitals, extremely high compared to the 155 minute wait statewide.
