A retired dispatcher, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke on the danger that sleeping on the job could cause. He further stated, “This job can go from zero to 60 in a matter of seconds. You need to be awake and alert. Someone could miss a call for assistance.” Given that it’s Florida, that statement couldn’t be more true.
