Ibrahim Ocasio, 23, and is mother Lucy Reyes, 57, took a visit to the NYC Resident Service Center which helps displaced residents find a place to stay. They decided not to take the temporary home offered by the city. Reyes says, “It was like a studio apartment in a shelter building”, she says. 18-year-old, Caesar Mendoza, whose parents and three siblings are living in their new home, says, “It’s better than being in the shelter”. The family signed up for housing and within a few hours they received a three bedroom apartment that is blocks away from their old home.

Glad the city is helping people get back on their feet.
