Lucky guy! Remember when the world was going crazy trying to find the replacement for David Letterman’s Late Show slot? Before news broke about Stephen Colbert, we reported that if passed over for the position, “Late Late Show” host Craig Ferguson would have a big payday. $8-$12 Million, to be exact. Well, it looks like it’ll be just he, himself, and all his millions. He’s decided to step down at the end of the year. More info after the jump.

Craig Ferguson says he is stepping down as host of CBS’ “The Late Late Show” this year.

CBS says Ferguson made the announcement to his studio audience Monday.

It’s the second late-night retirement for CBS, with David Letterman’s decision to leave “Late Show” in 2015. Letterman will be succeeded by Stephen Colbert.

Ferguson says he will retire this December. CBS did not announce who will replace him.
