Shortly after winning Defensive Player of the Year, Joakim Noah and the Chicago Bulls were eliminated from the playoffs after the Washington Wizards beat them 4-1.  Despite being such an important piece of the team and putting up big numbers Noah had been battling a knee injury that he finally took care of.

Just days after the season ended for the Chicago Bulls, center Joakim Noah underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Friday in Chicago.

The cleanout procedure at Rush Oak Park Hospital was performed by team physician Dr. Brian Cole. Rehab is expected to last eight to 12 weeks.

The NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year averaged 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season — all career highs. He is just the 14th player in NBA history to average at least 12 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in a season.
