Kevin Durant can now officially be known for something other than winning scoring titles. The Oklahoma City Thunder star broke through and was named MVP of the league today for the first time in his career. After averaging 32 points per game this year, he is the first player to win the scoring title and MVP in the same season since Allen Iverson did it in 2000-2001. Lebron James, Blake Griffin, Joakim Noah & James harden rounded out the top 5 in MVP voting, but KD ran away with the vote overall.

He will be given the award tomorrow before game two of the Thunder/Clippers series. A small part of history was made as Durant & Lebron finished in the top 2 in MVP voting for the fourth straight year. That passed the combo of Michael Jordan/Magic Johnson who did that three times. He scored at least 25 points 41 straight games this season and also improved his rebound and assist numbers. He kept the Thunder as legit title contenders even with fellow star Russell Westbrook missing chunks of the season with injury. Now the pressure is on to show this MVP season is worth it in the playoffs. Congrats KD!
