The Los Angeles Lakers are in the process of gathering names to potentially be a candidate for the head coach position and George Karl thinks he will get a call at some point.
“Mitch Kupchak and I were roommates in college and Mitch has been a very good friend of mine for years,” Karl told SiriusXM Radio, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Have I talked to Mitch in the last couple of weeks? No I haven’t.”
Karl’s run as the Denver Nuggets head coach came to an end last year when he was fired.
Names already linked with the Lakers’ job include Roy Williams, Kevin Ollie, Steve Kerr, Byron Scott, Mike Dunleavy Sr., Lionel Hollins, Derek Fisher and Ettore Messina. Others have been mentioned, however they are not serious candidates for the position.
