Today in NYC, Rev. Al Sharpton and Mayor de Blasio with family joined a crowd of about 100 people who marched from Harlem to Midtown towards the Nigerian consulate in protest in order to urge officials to bring back the 200 plus girls who were kidnapped and sold into marriage late last month in Nigeria. Protestors swarmed the Nigerian consulate today, with the assistance of Mayor de Blasio and Rev. Al Sharpton to protest the lack of effort from elected Nigerian officials to rescue the 276 girls who were kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorist extremist group in late April.

The terror group, whose name translates to “Western education is sinful,” has threatened to sell the girls as brides — even those as young as 9.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who also appeared with de Blasio, said he is prepared to fly to Nigeria at the “appropriate time” with a delegation of faith leaders. “This is not a Nigerian thing. This is not an African thing. This is a human rights thing,” Sharpton said.
