Phil Jackson is normally a very cool character. You never see him sweat, but that might change very soon. For the first time he is publicly making statements about being worried in regards to Melo leaving. At the same time he is making sure to remain as coy as possible by saying he won’t lose sleep over it. So which is it Phil? Hit the jump.

Phil Jackson said he’s “not losing sleep” over Carmelo Anthony’s pending free agency. But Jackson acknowledged on Friday that he’s “definitely concerned” about the idea that Anthony could sign elsewhere this summer.

Phil has said he has at least gotten Melo to “think about” opting in this summer and exploring free agency in the summer of 2015. I think we all know that is a long shot. If he decides to opt out, Anthony can make more money if he re-signs with the Knicks instead of another suitor. With the Knicks, he could ink a five-year contract worth around $129 million. If he signs with another team, the maximum he can earn is $95.8 million over four years.

He also acknowledged that there is no way he can wind up coaching the Knicks. “At this point, unless the Lord heals me, I wouldn’t be physically able to coach”.

Meanwhile the coach search continues and the stress about Melo goes on as well.
