In my opinion Colts owner Jim Irsay is getting off easy from his arrest back in March. Irsay was pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving. When Police searched his car they realized he was drunk out of his mind and also was in possession of numerous pain killers that were not his as well as about $29,000 in cash. All of those findings lend to the idea that he was up to no good. But after everything was said and done, prosecutors just last week decided not to file felony chargers and he got a slap on the wrist. Hit the jump.

The only punishment Irsay is really receiving is the fact that his license has been officially suspended for a year. The suspension started back on May 27th, but there is something more underlying here. If a NFL player was pulled over under the same circumstances, the league and media alike would of immediately assumed he was part of a drug transaction with all that loose cash and prescription pills. Irsay was given a pass in my opinion and gives players around the NFL a real reason to question commissioner Roger Goodell’s mindset when he suspends players for lesser offenses.

It shows a clear disparity regarding punishment of players and team owners or execs. Had this have been a player I can assume with certainty he would of been suspended for a chunk of games, if not an entire season and lost out on alot of money. Irsay better be thanking a higher power that he got off so easy.
