As has become an annual tradition, Rob Gronkowski is spending his offseason recovering from major surgery and partying like a rock star. Apparently, the New England Patriots are OK with his approach, and he looks to be progressing well in his rehab from reconstructive knee surgery.

“The Patriots don’t seem to mind that Gronkowski is keeping himself busy as long as he puts in his rehab,” wrote Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.

“He was actually bursting, planting, and cutting during the early portions of Thursday’s practice open to the media, and doesn’t look like he’s having any limitations. Whether he’ll be ready to play in the first month of the season is another matter.”

We won’t have any sort of real read on Gronk’s availability for Week 1 until training camp and the preseason get underway. The Pats will be focused on having him at full speed for the postseason, so a trip to the PUP list remains a realistic possibility.
