Casey was sick, suffering from serious Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. He was hospitalised towards the end where he was on life support and feeding tubes.

The condition of Kasem caused a feud within his family about the well-being of Kasem. His daughter Kerri Kasem was given authority over Kasem by a Judge against his wife.

Kerri took it to Facebook this morning to announce the death of her father, writing,

“Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad.
With love, Kerri, Mike and Julie.”

May he rest in peace.
