The trial of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who is accused of killing semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, is set to begin Oct. 6, according to the Boston Globe.

Prosecutors have said Hernandez killed Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancée, on June 17, 2013 and left his body less than a mile from Hernandez’s home.

Lawyers for Hernandez wanted to have evidence and the entire murder charge tossed after saying there was not enough evidence to support a murder charge.  His defense team wanted surveillance video from Hernandez’s home, evidence seized from cellphones and other devices excluded from the case.  The judge in the case, Susan Garsh, said she would rule on those motions at a later time.
