Talk about a surprise guest. After pushing back his North American tour dates for what was at first thought to be because of immigration issues which have since been cleared up, Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, returned to the stage tonight (June 27th) as a special guest for Dave Chapelle’s New York City comedy stint. Yasiin now joins the likes of Kanye West, Nas, Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes, Janelle Monae and DJ Premier who have all performed at Dave Chappelle’s continuous run at Radio City Music Hall. Looks like Mr. Chappelle is trying to do much more than put on a good show but by bringing some of music’s most respected artists to his stage he seems to be trying to make history.
For his last show in New York City Chappelle decided to give fans the biggest surprise yet by having Mos Def himself help him close out his 10 show engagement, which were Chappelle’s first New York performances in a decade.
