Though the San Francisco 49ers MNF win against the Atlanta Falcons was the last NFL game played at Candlestick Park, it won’t be the last football game played there.

Joe Montana and 62 other players will be participating in a flag-football game that Montana’s wife dubs the “Geriatric Bowl.”

“And it’s true,” a laughing Joe Cool told the San Francisco Chronicle.  “The biggest expense we’ll have for this whole thing will be ice.”

Montana has a couple of passes left for Jerry Rice, it turns out, as he and 62 other players will play in the Legends of Candlestick flag football game Saturday to benefit the San Francisco Police Foundation and the San Francisco Firefighters Cancer Prevention Foundation. It’s the last football game at Candlestick Park, the 49ers’ old home, and Montana and Rice will be joined by Steve Young, Ronnie Lott, Roger Craig, Dan Marino and Tim Brown, to name a few of the former NFL stars.

Sounds like good times and it’s only right that the last game be played with legends.
