The man (name not released), stabbed his wife twice in the chest in their home on Cloft Place. This incident took place sometime before 8:36 a.m. The couple has three children together, ages 15, 14 and 9. The children were there during the attack but they were not injured.

Authorities believe that the man drove his 2013 Hyundai Genesis halfway across the bridge, left it there and then jumped in the water at around 8:43 a.m. The Coast Guard were able to pull the man out of the water and EMT’s rushed to the Staten Island University North Medical Center and he was in cardiac arrest. He didn’t survive, he passed away at 9:30 a.m according to law enforcement sources.

His wife was also rushed to the same hospital and is in critical condition. Police sources said that they were called to the house once in a domestic dispute which resulted in the husband and wife being handcuffed.
