Brady died from injuries suffered 33 years ago, according to the Medical Examiner for the Northern District of Virginia this means gunman John Hinckley Jr. could be charged with Brady’s murder. Since his assassination attempt, he has been partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair. He launched a gun control campaign which led to a gun control legislation signed into law in 1993.

The medical examiners have found the cause of death to be a gunshot wound and its consequences in his autopsy. This allows for a federal murder charge to be opened against Hinckley who is currently a mental patient at a suburban Washington hospital.
