The number 5 train was taken out of service on Friday! The chairman of the conductor division of Transport Workers Union Local 100, Joe Costales, said a rider reported seeing a bedbug fall off a homeless man. Another rider, this time a man from Brooklyn told the Daily News that he saw what he thought was a bedbug crawling on the 4 train at New Lots Ave. “I killed it with an old Metrocard receipt, I turned it over and was like whoa! It’s a bedbug alright”.

The problem didn’t clear up for the N train though. On Friday, one had to be completely shut down after motorman reported bedbugs in a cab, a transit source explained. Even some passengers that was questioned by the news have called for all the N trains to be fumigated but, the MTA didn’t take that step or think it was something that was necessary. “The subway system has 5.5 million riders every single day and we can’t check all of them for bedbugs before letting them on the train, with that said, when we get reports of bedbug sightings we investigate and exterminate. This is an interesting story but not a big problem.”

YUCK! Just typing this has me itching. The MTA needs to find a way to get it together. I’m just saying!
