According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paul Giamatti is set to play Jerry Heller in the upcoming N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton.”
Heller was the co-founder Ruthless Records with Eazy-E and the manager of N.W.A during their rise to fame.
Before N.W.A, Heller was major in the music industry, workking with Journey to ELO to REO Speedwagon and helped Pink Floyd and Elton John in their early American tours.
Following his Dr. Dre’s departure from the group, Dre feuded with his former manager Jerry Heller and Eazy-E, mocking them in the music video for “Fuck Wit Dre Day.” The a song addresses his beef with his former label after leaving for Death Row Records.
Ice Cube even rapped that,”Jerry Heller is a devil shit packer,” on “The Predator,” which was released as the title track to Cube’s 1992 album.
With the movie slated to be released August 14, 2015, Giamatti joins Straight Outta Compton cast that includes O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins, who are set to star as Ice Cube, Eazy-E and Dr. Dre.
