Authorities say the incident took place around 3:30pm near Second Avenue and 84th Street.

According to reports, a piece of pipe fell off and struck the worker in the leg, seriously injuring the worker.

Unable to move, FDNY went 300 feet underground to resuce the worker where they lifted him to surface via a crane on 83rd Street, taking 45 minutes.

The worker is now in stable condition at The New York Presbyterian Hospital.

The Second Avenue subway has been under construction for a long time now, decades, and sadly this is not the first time a life threatening accident has happened.

Back on the March of 2013 one working ended up stuck up to his chest in mud.

Our hearts are to those workers that risk their lives to make commuting a lot less stressful and hopefully claustrophobic.
