Musiq Soulchild aka The Husel, admits that R&B is “struggling right now,” and has decided to shift his music to what the people are saying entertain them now.

In an interview with Madame Noir, Musiq explains his alter ego, The Husel. After a decade of R&B success, the hitmaker aims to conquer rap.

So why the musical change? Musiq decided to reinvent his style of music due to music listeners wanting more hip-hop driven sounds. “I like to entertain people according to what they’re saying entertains them. As an artist, musician, songwriter and producer, I sit back and hear it, and… if that’s what ya’ll like, I can do that.”

The entertainer further explains that while he is rapping, will not be sticking with the name Musiq Soulchild. Keeping Musiq and The Husel separate is very important for business.

“I didn’t want to compromise that other brand. If I’m running a business, and I’ve got one company that’s running, why try and force feed other elements that wasn’t intended to be a part of that company? Why not just start a whole new company?”

And if his new alter ego and self-tiled mixtape, The Husle, which was released back in July, isn’t received well by fans? The singer-songwriter/rapper isn’t worried. “The fact that people are talking about it, I won already,” The Husel said.
