Back in March, Rae Sremmurd came through with Mike WiLL Made It to SXSW and performed “No Flex Zone” at the Complex Complex. They were practically unheard-of at this time, but the brother duo “Swae Lee” Khalif Brown and “Slim Jimmy” Aaquil Brown were still showing out! Now they can be seen riding high off the success of their Mike WiLL-produced track, a few remixes thanks to Nicki Minaj and Pusha T, and their latest single “No Type.”

Life wasn’t always a awesome for the Mississippi-via-Atlanta artists; a few years back, the two were making music and free-styling back in high school. But it was rough since they were homeless for a little while. They finally linked with their now-mentor Mike WiLL and they have been doing quite well. “You can have nothing and be sad or you can have nothing and be positive,” Jimmy says.

Complex caught up with them and they spoke about working with EarDrummers Entertainment, and how Mike WiLL’s cosign has inspired their drive, and so much more – check it out below!
