With a society that’s so entrusted in titles, Raven-Symone’s recent comments was sure to cause a debate. The That’s So Raven star sat down with the Big O for her latest installment of, Where Are They Now? when she asked about being labeled, “gay.” Raven said, no. “I want to be labeled as a human who loves other humans.” That one sentence flowed into a highly controversial topic – racial and ethnical background descriptors.

“I’m not African-American,” says Raven. Of course this send some people over the deep end. However, after speaking her beliefs, she wants to make some clarifications. Raven knows who she is, she just doesn’t have to define it with a given title.

Raven Says:

“I never said I wasn’t black… I want to make that very clear. I said, I am not African-American. I never expected my personal beliefs and comments to spark such emotion in people. I think it is only positive when we can openly discuss race and being labeled in America.”
