I don’t know if I agree with this, but then again I am not a former NBA great who is currently in the Hall of Fame.
Dwight Howard has always had that great potential, but never seems to fully live up to it. He hasn’t shown the ability to carry a team and his personality at times leads you to wonder how mature he is, or what his focus is. Well those times may be a thing of the past according to a former Rockets great.

@IamJoeSports

Howard last year averaged just over 18 points and 12 rebounds a game, which even though the rebound number is great, those numbers aren’t going to win MVP. Hakeem Olajuwon, who knows something about winning MVP’s and championships thinks Dwight is ready and this is his season!

“I played at a time when were so many players that could win the MVP each year — Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone. It meant you weren’t going to win the MVP every year. But you had to play like an MVP and have your name in the conversation. I believe that’s where Dwight is now. He is healthy. He is physically fit. He is strong. He wants to win.

“He’s healthy. He’s strong. He’s ready,” said Olajuwon, who won the award in 1994 when he led the Rockets to the first of their back-to-back championships. “Now it’s about having the attitude to go out every night and dominate.”

That last sentence, about Dwight’s attitude is the key factor in all of this. If he can stay focused and show he is a leader, anything is possible with his talent and athleticism.
