Davis is teaming up with writers from The Cleveland Show for a comedy based on his college years. Hit the jump for details.

Via Deadline:

The untitled project, written by Courtney Lilly (The Cleveland Show), is loosely based on Davis’ life. It is about a kid from South Central who receives a scholarship to attend a prestigious suburban school and has to find a balance between these two very different worlds. Los Angeles-born Davis grew up in the city’s tough, crime-plagued South Central area before landing a basketball scholarship to attend the posh Crossroads private school in Santa Monica. He went on to play for UCLA before embarking on a 13-year NBA career.

Davis and Lilly executive produce with Kate Gordon and The Walcott Co.’s Winkler. The project joins another autobiographical comedy project of a sports personality this development season, ABC’s Men In Shorts, inspired by the story of openly gay soccer player Robbie Rogers.
