The Ray Rice incident shook the NFL over the summer and throughout the entire ordeal, Roger Goodell appeared to stand firm on his stance that he had very little details about the incident. During Rice’s appeal, Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome testified that Rice informed Goodell of the incident before it was exposed to the public. Hit the jump for details.

Via Complex Sports:

We don’t think that any of our readers who’ve kept up with the Ray Rice/Roger Goodell situation have anything positive to say about either side. But in a small way you have to admire the excessive hubris of the NFL’s commissioner who appears to be just bs-ing his way through the whole fiasco with a tone-deaf, shit-eating grin.

Yesterday, during Ray Rice’s appeals hearing, Baltimore Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome testified that Rice had told Goodell that he hit his then-fiancee (now-wife) Janay Palmer in the elevator at Revel Casino. This both contradicts Goodell’s previous statements while simultaneously confirming what we all pretty much assumed. Back in the summer when Rice and Goodell met, the commish had said that Rice’s retelling of the events was “inconsistent” and “ambiguous.”

It would also seemingly help the former Ravens running back who could see himself reinstated in the next couple of weeks. Of course then the biggest hurdle will probably be signing with a team that gives so little of a crap about public relations that they’d be willing to add Rice to the active roster.
