HUFFINGTON POST

Recently we reported the several resurfacing, and now even new rape allegations that comedian Bill Cosby is facing. Nonetheless the comedy show must go on for Cosby even if no one seems to be laughing at home. The 77 year comic performed in Nassau, Bahamas last night for a charity event, in the midst of the allegation turmoil Cosby has been facing.

Cosby kept it regular with a standup show of familiar routines which included narratives of the comics childhood in Philly, as well as some observations of life in the Bahamas. Many prominent members of the Bahamian community were in attendance of his 90 minute set. All of which were glad to support the fundraiser and Cosby despite recent rape allegations.

Alfred Sears, an official with the College of the Bahamas and a former attorney general had this to say about Cosby and recent allegations.

“I think everybody is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty,” “Tonight is for a cause, and I think that he has contributed to the cause. In terms of the other issues the court of law and the court of public opinion will deal with those issues.”

Khaalis Rolle, a minister of state for investments, said he was pleased to see that people didn’t stay away because it helped a local charity and Cosby deserved the benefit of the doubt. “You still have to account for the fact that they are just allegations,” he said. “Nothing has been proven.”

Unfortunately for Cosby, these recent rape allegations could not have worst timing. In recent attempts of a career comeback many are pulling out and running far from Cosby. This week Netflix said it was postponing a comedy special it had planned with Cosby to air later this month, while NBC said it was stopping development of a sitcom with him and TV Land pulled reruns of “The Cosby Show.” Also, High Point University in North Carolina removed Cosby’s name from its board of advisers, the High Point Enterprise reported.

Maybe Cosbys best bet is to continue fundraiser gigs outside of the country. Who knows.
Cosby is scheduled to perform Friday in Melbourne, Florida.
