When CM Punk left the WWE earlier this year at the prime of his career, many people were shocked and confused. In a recent in depth interview, Punk revealed that he was fired on his wedding day..ouch. Hit the jump for details.

Rumors abounded that the retired wrestling star quit his post, but now Punk has set the record straight in a recent podcast interview, saying he didn’t just leave the WWE. He claims he was fired from the organization — and on his wedding day to WWE diva AJ Lee, no less.
In a lengthy podcast interview with Colt Cabana, the man known as the “longest-reigning WWE champion of the modern era” recalled getting his walking papers after a heated conversation with Vince McMahon in which Punk called the WWE environment “toxic.”
“The day of my wedding I got a FedEx in the mail … it was my termination papers. I was fired,” Punk said. “On my wedding day. Very calculated. Very deliberate. … As much as I kind of chuckled at it and didn’t let it affect my day, I was like, ‘Once again, you pushed too [expletive] far. You pushed the wrong guy.I’ve had so many injuries and this was the most painful thing in my entire life, it hurt so bad. I sweat like I was in the Sahara desert, I clutched table and the doc was just squeezing this stuff. He patched it up and gave me three months worth of antibiotics. I’ve been working with this for three months and doc told me I should be dead or I could’ve died.'”
