Floyd Mayweather is used to having all the power when it comes to his career. He is always overseeing promotion for his fights, who he is going to fight, and is a one man marketing machine for his own career. He doesn’t answer to any of the big wigs in boxing and that’s why they all hate him, but they shouldn’t be mad at someone who took ownership of his career and is running it his way, they should respect it. Turns out however there may be some wording in his contract with CBS/Showtime that allows someone else to tell him what to do.

A very, very important bit of news was reported yesterday. Freddie Roach says he sat in on a meeting between Bob Arum and CBS big boss Les Moonves this week in Los Angeles and Moonves said that he can deliver Floyd Mayweather to participate in a prizefight against Manny Pacquiao in April or May of 2015.

This is without a doubt, the single-most positive development yet regarding “The Biggest Prizefight In Boxing History.”

Les Moonves is not an Al Haymon puppet like Stephen Espinoza or Dick Schaefer. No, Les Moonves is the head honcho of CBS, which owns Showtime. In other words, Les Moonves owns Floyd Mayweather for two more contracted TV dates.

Quite clearly, Les Moonves has been informed about the eight-figure losses that recent Floyd Mayweather “fights” have cost his network’s bottom line over the last two years. And Les Moonves understands how gigantic Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao will be.

Roach says Les Moonves will finally, after five pathetic years of ducking and dodging and shaming our great sport with lies, excuses and bull, DELIVER (or sacrifice) Floyd Mayweather.

I think those words are as good as gold, music to our ears, dear ring observers, and you can take them to the bank.

Les Moonves, via Bob Arum, is going to make the biggest event in boxing history reality.

This little bit of news may be the most important of all in getting the fight to actually happen.
