Big Sean

Big Sean was introduced to the masses in 2011 with his debut album Finally Famous, and its success was thanks in part to “Marvin & Chardonnay,” his Kanye West-assisted single that went number one on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Also going number one from that album was the Chris Brown-assisted “My Last,” which hit the top of Billboard’s Rap charts.

In 2012, Sean was credited as the lead on “Mercy” off the G.O.O.D. Music compilation album Cruel Summer, and that too went on to hit number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

2013 proved to be a bit of a bust for the Detroit rapper, as only one song off his sophomore effort Hall of Fame made the charts – the Lil Wayne and Jhene Aiko-assisted “Beware” – but only peaked at number 6 on the Rap charts before falling off.

However, it’s a new year and he has a new chick on his side, and Sean is off to a great start for his third album. His new single “I Don’t Fuck With You,” produced by DJ Mustard, Kanye West and DJ Dahi and featuring E-40, has become his fourth number one single, and the third number one for Sean on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Congrats!

Sean also recently spoke with Highsnobiety, and revealed some details about the forthcoming album. “It’s way darker than anything I’ve ever done, way harder than any album I’ve ever done,” Sean said. “I’m pretty sure you’re going to like this album. The sound of it is definitely better than the mixtapes but it’s more of that type of intensity, high-level raps, and just not giving a f#ck and going in.”

Can’t wait to hear it!
