HUFFINGTONPOST

Last night thousands of people gathered in protest across the nation in an uproar due to the decisions made by Staten Islands grand jury to not charge officer Daniel Pantaleo for the death of civilian Eric Garner. Video footage of the encounter between Garner and the police show Officer Daniel Pantaleo wrestling Garner to the ground with a chokehold in which Garner Gasps for air and continuously repeats “I Can’t Breathe”.

Americans especially African Americans are fed up with the tainted judicial system. A system that is supposed to be for the justice and freedom of all, however in the recent events where grand jury’s have been letting white officers off scott free for the murders of black males, this “Justice and Freedom” are hard to find in America today.

‘Black lives matter’ was the message, in cities across America last night; Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Minneapolis, Oakland, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., were among the protesting cities. Sign-carrying, chanting demonstrators marched down heavily-traveled streets and shut down highways and bridges all in the name of JUSTICE.

Tensions are running high across America and the air of today is reminiscent of that of the 1960’S Civil rights movement. As many protest for the freedom and rights that America promises but so many minorities are yet to truly receive. SOUNDOFF in the comments below
