IFWT_Sony_Pictures_Email_Hack

Sheesh! If this isn’t a Public Relations ‘BIG A** FAIL’ I don’t know what is. Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sony Entertainment Inc. is in hot water after a hack lead to some leaked emails between the higher-ups, agents and more about some of our favorite entertainers. Some of the famed names include, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo Dicaprio, Adam Sandler and the wildest of all, Kevin Hart.

Co-chair Amy Pascal, studio exec Clint Culpepper, and Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton emailed back and forth about the little-big comedian requesting more money – around the tune of $3 million – to promote his summer film, Think Like A Man 2, on social media. Yes, $3 million for one, maybe two or three 140-chractered tweets. “I’m tempted to suggest we call his bluff. If his film does NOT perform, it hurts his brand and we have his next three films,” typed Culpepper. “I’m not saying he’s a whore, but he’s a whore.”

Sheesh (wipes forehead)! This is only the tip of the iceberg. Hit the jump for more.

It would seem that Sony paid Hart a total of $7 million for his last two films, which is why they are ready to call his bluff. Sony merely wants the funny man to use his social media savvy skills to do some promotion, and well, $3 million is a bit much.

It’s not as if we paid him 3M and 4M respectively for his last 2 films thinking he might be nominated. We paid for his ability to open a film which included his social media savvy. I feel like this is something that should be negotiated going into the film as opposed to after the fact. It feels tantamount to

buying a car and then upon picking it up being told that the engine will cost extra. I’m tempted to suggest we call his bluff. If he doesn’t do his normal routine, his film will not open as well and his brand will appear diminished and he will- in fact – be fucking himself because we have his next 2 immediate films. And then there’s the social media precedent we’re setting…especially in light of the fact that Channing is at the same agency.

Hart wasn’t the only actor on the chopping block at Sony.

About Angelina Jolie:

“I’m not destroying my career over a minimally talented spoiled brat who thought nothing of shoving this off her plate for eighteen months so she could go direct a movie…She’s a camp event and a celebrity and that’s all and the last thing anybody needs is to make a giant bomb with her that any fool could see coming.” — Scott Rudin, producer

About Adam Sandler:

“We continue to be saddled with the mundane, formulaic Adam Sandler films.” — Sony Pictures memo
