I don’t know Knicks fans, what you guys think? You think Melo is being sincere about never discussing his no-trade clause? Or is he trying to save face with New Yorkers because the news leaked out. A report from earlier today said sources close to Melo were adamant he was open to waiving his no-trade clause if Phil Jackson could find a trade he would like to be apart of. Now Carmelo is saying not so fast, denying he has ever talked about it, but at least personally that is hard for me to believe.

“Come on, man. After all the work I did to get here and get back here? If I was to get up and want to leave now that would just make me weak, make me have a weak mind,” Anthony said on Friday morning. “I’ve never been a person to try to run from any adversity or anything like that so I’m not going to pick today to do that.”

That was Melo’s statement after being asked about the report. I wouldn’t even fault Melo for at least discussing it because look at the facts. He just signed a $124 million dollar contract and expected to be part of at least a competitive team. What has happened instead is the Knicks are the joke of the NBA, yes the same NBA that has the Philadelphia 76ers, yet the Knicks are still the joke! You have to know inside his brain Melo has gone back and forth about regretting not picking the Bulls over the summer as his new team, where he would be winning games now and be a legit title contender.

The only think the Knicks are contending for is the worst team in the league and it looks good for them to win that title. I know I am not the only fan of the Knicks who has noticed Melo has not shown much passion for the game this season. Now I realize constant losing can affect that, but he doesn’t come across as someone built to lead other guys through tough times. Of course he would deny the report but do we believe him?

This is going to be a very long season at MSG.
